so cool!

i just started reading Miss at la Playa, a blog about everything fashion and some other fun stuff. a couple of days ago she wrote about this little robot called Tweenbots. Kacie Kinzer from Tisch School of the Arts in NYU created a robot that is human-dependent to help it navigate around obstacles. so far every attempt to go from point A to point B has been successful with only the help of passing pedestrians. this is super cool, take a look.

the worst update ever!

i’m back. this blog was MIA for about 24 hours. i decided to update the WordPress backend last night. what was suppose to be a 5 easy step update, turned into the nightmare of nightmares of updates. step 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 and… nothing. no blog, no backend, nothing. couldn’t even log in. stayed up till 5am freaking out, talking to @codesketch and @codykeith on twitter (awesome guys), tinkering with the limited knowledge of mySQL databases, and finally fell asleep annoyed and frustrated. i think i uninstalled and reinstalled WordPress 7 or 8 times. in the end i installed a brand new blog, made a brand new database, and started to test each old database separately. one by one testing and checking to see what would happen. two of the databases were hooped, which is why no one could see my blog and why i couldn’t get into my blog.

it’s all back up and running again. i’ve learnt a bit more about mySQL databases, and the retarded ins and outs of WordPress. fingures crossed that the next update only takes 5 steps.

it’s alive!

over the last couple of days i have been switching my blog from cutenews to wordpress. it didn’t take quite as long as i thought it would, and i’m really happy how everything switched over. and best of all, everyone can comment again, LOL. for those who had the cutenews RSS, you will need to resubscribe. there is a whole bunch of new gear coming down the pipeline over at Photokina; some expected, some surprising, and some that could be industry changing. more to come on that later.

crazy comment spam

this doesn’t really apply a whole lot since most people who read this blog don’t comment. i’m just not that controversial i guess, LOL. anyways, i’ve been getting a ton of comment spam over the last little while, and i just don’t have time to implement a proper spam blocker at the moment. as well as i’m planning on switching to WordPress for this blog in the fall, which has a fantastic spam blocker. so temporarily i have shut down comments. if you would like to comment on something please send me an email.

my comment to you

over the last couple of weeks i’ve been getting random comments that have become quite mean spirited and personal. the last two, up until this posting, you can read in the comments in the post below (the comments have been removed). they speak of me posting mean comments on their blog or site, and then down-right rip into me. they also reference that i am a cocky SOB and i think i am the center of the universe. this is all a surprise to me. first of all, i rarely comment on other people’s sites, and if i do, it’s usually on very good friend’s sites. second, to be able to rip into me with so much anger takes a lot of aggression and hurt. i don’t know what i have done to deserve these verbal assaults. i haven’t commented or posted on anyone’s site in a long time, let alone on my own. i am usually a soft-hearted kinda guy. i try my hardest not to judge; everyone has a story.

i really hope that they have the right ian. i honestly have no idea where all this came from, or what they are talking about. and i really don’t have a clue of who they are. it could very much be that someone else is piggy-backing my IP or using a similar username to impersonate me; that could explain the comments that this person has been receiving. the last comment calls for a truce, which is fine by me. they’re going to have to realize that i am not the one who is the aggressor. though i would like to know who they are and why they decided to rain on my parade.

if you really have a beef with me click “email me” and take it up directly with me.

my religion

i was looking at a buddy’s blog, and he had his results of this quiz. so i decided to see what kind of religion i fit into….. well well, i’m 79% christian…. oh wait, i’m also 58% pagan…. the quiz is a little skewed, and really isn’t clever about it’s questions at all. it is actually blatantly obvious what religion each question is asking about. oh well….

this is what it said….

You scored as Christianity. Your views are most similar to those of Christianity. Do more research on Christianity and possibly consider being baptized and accepting Jesus, if you aren’t already Christian.

Christianity is the second of the Abrahamic faiths; it follows Judaism and is followed by Islam. It differs in its belief of Jesus, as not a prophet nor historical figure, but as God in human form. The Holy Trinity is the concept that God takes three forms: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost (sometimes called Holy Spirit). Jesus taught the idea of instead of seeking revenge, one should love his or her neighbors and enemies. Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross to save humankind and forgive people’s sins.

Which religion is the right one for you? (new version)created with QuizFarm.com

Christianity 79%
Paganism 58%
Buddhism 54%
Satanism 38%
Agnosticism 33%
Judaism 29%
Atheism 21%
Islam 21%
Hinduism 13%

City And Colour

Quote of the day….

“That’s why they call them crushes. If they were easy, they’d call them something else.”

It’s on the back of Dallas Green’s album. Look in the corner….

photo blog

i’ve been trying to update my photo blog, but all the computers that i’ve been using have been really really really slow. so i’m going to try to find a better computer that can actually handle a mass upload. so for now, you’ll just have to imagine me sitting in by the grande canal in venice, sipping some chianti, and eating some pasta.
