ballet
i have been wanting to shoot this project for a while, and i got the chance last weekend. the idea was simple; capture a ballerina mid-flight. my friend, and ballerina, Miss. Amy Schmidt obliged to be put through the paces of doing the same jump over and over again. we had a ton of fun shooting, almost had Amy jumping right into the softbox… no good. i’m super happy with the final result. simple and elegant.
here’s a quick behind-the-scenes video. it’ll also show you the simple lighting setup that i had.

Celebration of Light
tonight was the first of four international firework shows in Vancouver. Canada was up tonight. pretty crazy pyrotechnics.

i’ve been in Vancouver for a week now. my place is finally void of boxes, thank God, and i’m settling in. i’ll put up some picture of my new diggs tomorrow.
was down at a little beach called Pioneer Park just a couple of blocks from my place. my buddy Danny just picked up a Nikon D60 and we wanted to grab some night shots. it was the first time i pulled out my camera here in Vancouver and i must say it felt pretty good. our little trek was short lived as Danny’s battery died out. oh well, just means that we’ll have to do it again when the weather is a bit warmer and when the sun sets a bit later.

i actually printed this one out and hung it in my bathroom.
